A Look at Krispy Kreme's Pac-Man Donuts

The limited-edition box containing Krispy Kreme's Pac-Man Specialty Dozen.

Krispy Kreme's Pac-Man Donuts are a trio of limited-time donuts that include the Pac-Man Party Donut, Team Ghost Donut, and Strawberry Power Berry Donut.

The donuts cost $3.19 a piece or $24.99 for the Pac-Man Specialty Dozen at my local Krispy Kreme. However, I received these courtesy of Krispy Kreme.

In terms of new flavors, there's none to be found in the Pac-Man Donuts. Both chocolate- and strawberry-flavored Kremes are limited-time fillings that make the rounds several times a year. Both Kremes were mild and pleasant in flavor.

The novelty of the Pac-Man Donuts stems from their appearance, which is inspired by various elements of the Pac-Man video game.

Krispy Kreme's Pac-Man Party Donut.

The Pac-Man Party Donut is an Original Glazed Donut topped with yellow buttercreme-flavored icing, celebration sprinkles, and a Pac-Man candy piece. The candy piece features the classic appearance of Pac-Man and felt like a slightly sweet fondant. The sprinkles lend a birthday vibe since the game is celebrating its 45th anniversary. I'm a little surprised they didn't make this one a giant Pac-Man shell donut.

Krispy Kreme's Team Ghost Donut.

The Team Ghost Donut consists of a shell doughnut filled with chocolate-flavored Kreme, dipped in black icing, decorated with a Pac-Man maze, and topped with a Team Ghost candy piece. Like the Pac-Man Party Donut, the Team Ghost candy piece seems to be made of fondant. They manage to include the little dots that Pac-Man eats in the game.

Krispy Kreme's Strawberry Power Berry Donut.

The Strawberry Power Berry Donut is a shell donut filled with strawberry-flavored Kreme, dipped in red icing, and topped with white sprinkles and green leaf icing. It took me a while to remember that there were fruits in the Pac-Man game that could be eaten for bonus points. For the most part, this one looked pretty nice, although the shell donuts in my batch looked a bit misshapen. I also don't know why there are sprinkles on only half of the donut rather than all of it. Complete sprinkle coverage would have been more like its in-game counterpart and an actual strawberry.
